Ingredients:
For the Crust:
- 2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup dry powdered milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 packet of instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 2/3 cups warm water (110-115°F)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
For the Toppings:
- 1/2 pound Italian sausage
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 (8 oz) block of mozzarella cheese
For the Sauce (Make a day ahead for best flavor):
- 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/3 cup olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1/2 tablespoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
Instructions:
Crust:
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C).
- Prepare an 18 x 13-inch baking sheet by spraying it with non-stick spray and lining it with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, powdered milk, sugar, yeast, and salt. Whisk until thoroughly mixed.
- Add the vegetable oil to the warm water, then pour this mixture into the dry ingredients. Stir with a wooden spoon until a dough forms. Don’t worry about small lumps—just ensure there are no dry spots.
- Spread the dough onto the prepared baking sheet using your fingertips, pressing it out evenly. If the dough is too sticky, let it rest for 5 minutes before continuing.
- Bake the crust alone for 8-10 minutes. Remove from the oven and set aside.
Toppings:
- In a skillet, brown the Italian sausage and ground beef, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until the meat is crumbly. Drain any excess fat and set the meat aside.
- Retrieve the sauce made earlier.
Assembling the Pizza:
- Spread the prepared sauce evenly over the partially baked crust.
- Sprinkle the browned meats over the sauce.
- Grate the mozzarella cheese and sprinkle it over the meat.
- Return the pizza to the oven and bake at 475°F (245°C) for 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese begins to turn golden brown.
- Let the pizza cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
